This presentation introduces the Combined Offering Plan, a new system for collecting and distributing non-assigned offerings within the Seventh-day Adventist Church, particularly in the Middle East and North Africa Union. Under this plan, church members give offerings as an act of worship, without specifying the ministry or project to support. The collected offerings are then distributed among the local church (50-60%), local field (15%), union (5%), and the General Conference World Missionary Fund (20%). The speaker encourages members to become "promisers" by committing to giving a percentage of their income as offerings, in addition to tithes, to support the church's missionary work at all levels.
A succinct explanation of the advantages and rationale behind the COP adopted by the General Conference in 2002
The evaluation, conducted by IAD leaders last month at IAD's Miami headquarters, attributed dramatic improvements in systematic giving in the territory to the 60-20-20 plan, which was approved by the church leadership in 1994. The plan was one of three designed by the Adventist World Church. According to the plan, offering money collected in envelopes with the “Global Offering” option selected are distributed in the following way: 60% to the local church budget, 20% to support the building of new churches and schools according to local needs and 20% for the global church work.
Why was the Combined Offering Plan (COP) voted in 2002 as “the giving system recommended and promoted by the General Conference”1 of the Seventh-day Adventist Church?2 What kind of growth is expected for worshipers and the church’s institutions by the adoption of this “concept of a simplified offering system”?3
